XIV is gonna be geo political imo. tax cuts...or lack of tax cuts.
Missed a gift today on HMNY short at the bell. Looking at AMD earnings tonight...known for wide swings.

Somehow, Xiv found a loophole in my system. Isn't that always the case. I have to wait for it to make a strong move one way or the other. At least I didn't get stuck in that big drop yesterday.

Filter has signaled, may be wrong. But unless it drops off the radar, it does not look good for Xiv in the slightest. Not at all.

Not trying to high jack the thread, but I just shorted the market heavily (at much more than 3x) because I have (very sophisticated) back tested filters that throughout history (back to the 1980s) have timed it correctly based on a special volume/price pattern and fundamentals. I plan to retire on a tropical island if this works out again by the end of year... Fingers cross... Join me if you dare. Awaiting your brutal feedback. ;-)

I sold 9 units today at $108.32 - getting concerned that this might be a prolonged or deeper pullback and already saw about half my gains evaporate since Friday.
Still holding 5 units at an average price of $109.60. Bought 3 units at the open today which hurt my cost average on these.
I am not following the system rigorously since I exiting before the system filters triggers to do so, but I allow myself the option of exiting at a profit.

No - long only. The reason is that there have not been many times when shorting XIV made sense over the last five years. It is primarily driven by contango, which has been positive almost 90% of the time since 2011. Not a lot of data for developing XIV shorting systems with any decent stats.
